| Hello, Hopefully there are still some users on this forum, at least some that may be able to shed some light on a discussion. On another film forum, https://cinematography.com/index.php?/forums/forum/61-russian-gear/ there is a discussion over whether to change the forum's name from Russian gear to Soviet gear. The main argument seems to be that most equipment was made during the Soviet years, and therefore the forum should be called Soviet gear. I made the argument against the change, mostly as Russian denotes a culture covering a very wide area of land, whereas Soviet denotes a political ideology. I also suggested it was odd that an entire industry was simply called Russian gear. But I suppose few Russian cameras were used outside Russia for a long time.
So, a question for users on this forum, which is preferred? Calling a forum about cine cameras from Russia, Russian gear, or Soviet gear?
Thanks, Gareth
